UPDATE 8/25/2023: 48th Street Closure Between Roe Boulevard and Roe Lane

UPDATED CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION AS OF 8/25/2023: Contractors for EVERGY have been making repairs on 48th Street. Delays have occurred due the contractor having to excavate through solid rock underneath the street, however the repairs are nearing completion. The contractor is anticipated to have all the repairs finished by next Friday, September 1st by the end of the day. The contractor will plan to remove all traffic control devices and open 48th Street back to normal traffic. Any changes or updates will be posted here and on the City's social media sites. *****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************EVERGY has contracted with Magnum Boring to complete repairs to a concrete structure located underneath 48th St, just east of Roe Blvd. The contractor will need to close 48th St between Roe Blvd & Roe Lane starting on 7/27/2023. This closure will be in effect for a  minimum of 2 weeks, however may need to be extended.  Southbound traffic on Roe Blvd coming from I-35 will be detoured south to Roe Lane, then east on Roe Lane to 47th St (County Line Rd). Northbound traffic on Roe Blvd from Johnson Drive will need to use Roe Lane to access 47th St. Detour signage will be in place to assist motorists to navigate around the construction area.  Motorists can access the Walgreens, Aldi’s, Casey’s gas station, and Burger King using the commercial entrance off of Roe Blvd or the commercial entrance on Roe Lane. Large delivery trucks should use Roe Lane to access the commercial businesses listed above. Large trucks will need to use Roe Lane to access Roe Pkwy. Motorists traveling westbound on 47th St will be detoured at Roe Lane to go south to Roe Blvd.
