Plans are in place for the long-awaited new sculpture for R Park to arrive by truck sometime between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon on Wednesday, May 21st . Installation of the 15-foot tall piece will take place on Wednesday, May 22nd and take approximately 4 hours.

Jorge Blanco, the sculptor, will be present to supervise the installation. The City of Roeland Park and Jan Duncan of Synergy Construction Company will be providing the workers, heavy equipment and tools.

If you would like to watch the sculpture being installed, please stop by R Park sometime during the day of Tuesday, May 21. If not then, be sure to come to R Park after that date to enjoy the new colorful and welcoming sculpture. R Park is located at 5535 Juniper Drive in Roeland Park. If you are with children in the park, please remind them that sculptures are to be thoroughly enjoyed with their eyes but should never be touched or climbed on.

This installation culminates a year-long R Park sculpture project led by citizens and supported by the Arts Advisory Committee and the Parks Committee. All costs were privately-fundraised.
