Art Matters!

Sculpture 1234

"The purpose of art is to wash the daily dust of living off our souls." - Pablo Picasso

Here’s what some Roeland Parkers have to say about the Jorge Blanco sculpture that will be coming to R Park in May of 2019:

It’s good! The man is running on the crescent moon!

-Ezra, Kindergartener

It’s full of energy and a good addition to the park because of its childlike essence.

-Teresa, University Art Professor

I love the thought of having Jorge Blanco’s zen of happiness in R Park and reflecting on the idea of

moving forward each time I look at it.

-Susan, Librarian

After meeting the artist at the recent reception, I see his energy in this red-running-guy.

- Jim, Writer/Historian

I like his style. I like the way he does heads, and the colors he uses make me feel happy.

-Max, 4th Grader

It reminds me of being active in the park. Keep moving and don't be afraid to fall down;

it's only your shadow chasing you.

-Tim, Telecommunications Business Owner

Love this fun, sprightly, energetic guy! What a great symbol of our beautiful town, and the

active, connected, arts-and health-supporting community we have here. Go, Roeland Park and R Park!

-Grace, Writer
